Henry Recalls How ‘Angry’ Lionel Messi Dribbled Past The Whole Team In Training

Lionel Messi or Cristiano Ronaldo…Cristiano Ronaldo or Lionel Messi….It’s an endless debate. And everyone has their own opinion but Thierry Henry could convince anyone who’s still undecided. With one small story he explained why he sees Lionel Messi as the greatest player in the world and perhaps, the greatest player of all time.

Zinedine Zidane, Ronaldinho, Andres Iniesta...Thierry Henry has played with some incredible players. But, according to the Frenchman one player is better than any of them and that player is Lionel Messi.

When asked who between Messi and Ronaldo is the better player the Arsenal legend gave us an impassioned response. “I respect Ronaldo a lot. I respect the amount of work he puts into the game, the amount of dedication he has. But, Leo is just a freak”. As proof henry tells an unbelievable story about something that happened in 2009.

At the time Messi was only 22 years old but was already a sensation on the global football scene. During training, FC Barcelona’s players were playing against one another in a match on off the field. Someone fouled Messi, trainer Pep Guardiola continued the game yelling “no foul it’s good”. Messi went crazy and he grabbed the ball and said “There was no foul.okay”.Henry Recalls How 'Angry' Messi Dribbled Past The Whole Team In Training

So when the ball went back to his goalkeeper Messi ran back and demanded the ball. The goalkeeper rolled him the ball and Messi then proceeded to run through the entire team and scored in anger. It’s the kind of thing we did on the playground at school against little kids except that this time Messi was up against Carles Puyol, Yaya Toure, Sergio Busquets, Andres Iniesta, Xavi, Dani Alves…

Messi passed them all up one by one out of simple frustration and having not gotten the foul call. And it wasn’t just that one time he did it a couple of times.

“I’ve played with a lot of good players, but I had never seen that.I don’t know if we’ll see a player like him ever again”. We have the incredible opportunity  to watch Messi at work the most TALENTED player of all time. And Cristiano Ronaldo the HARDEST worker of all time. For us it’s one of the greatest times ever to be a football fan.
