Twitter Reacts As Manchester United Eliminate PSG From Champions League
Manchester United fans all over the world are still enjoying their huge win over Paris Saint-Germain at the home of the French champions. Solskjaer’s men knocked out the Ligue 1 champions from the competition after handing them a 3-1 defeat at home.
The Red Devils went into the game without 10 first team players, who were on the sideline through injury or suspension. Anthony Martial, Alexis Sanchez, Nemanja Matic, Juan Mata, and Ander Herrera were on the sidelines match-day squad due to injury, while the in form Paul Pogba was suspended.
However, the Red side of Manchester showed enough character and appetite to overturn the 2-0 deficit suffered in the home of Red Devils. A goal within five minutes from Romelu Lukaku goal set the tone for what was to become a memorable night for Manchester United. Although PSG equalized through Juan Bernat at 12 minutes, a second goal from Lukaku raised Man United belief before going into half time break leading 2-1.
PSG created a numerous amount of decent chances in the second half but lacked final pass, while Bernat’s came close by hitting the frame of the goal post.
There was spectacle towards the end of the game, though, as Man United were awarded a penalty right at the death of second half. A shot from Diogo Dalot appeared to hit the arm of Presnel Kimpembe and, following controversial decision taken by the VAR officials, finally the penalty was given.
Marcus Rashford stepped in the crucial part of the game placed the ball firmly behind Gianluigi Buffon to make it 3-1 to Manchester United and 3-3 on aggregate.
As Manchester United fans celebrated, one man who was furious with the officials over the penalty call was Neymar, who was seated in the stands. The Brazilian is currently injured but took to social media to slam the referees.
